The physiotherapy department at SBJH is dedicated to the treatment and rehabilitation of all musculoskeletal disorders

Physiotherapy is an essential part of post-surgery rehabilitation. The physiotherapy experts at SBJH create specially designed customised exercise regimens using scientific equipment to help patients regain joint mobility, enhance their physical capabilities and lead normal lives following surgery.

The physiotherapy department also treats patients of all ages with pain, stiffness of joints, postural issues, malalignment of the body and other chronic musculoskeletal problems effectively. Each patient is assessed comprehensively and a fitness plan is tailor-made to their requirements.

Once a patient has recovered the physiotherapy team then moves on to strengthening the body to prevent any further injuries.

The SBJH Physiotherapy department has an excellent track record in treating both the elite and recreational sportsperson, with a majority of our patients seeing results within a short span of time.

SBJH introduced the human norm cybex Isokinetic machine for the first time in Tamil Nadu and is very useful in measuring the strength of muscles. This helps to see if optimal function of the joint has been achieved especially in the post-operative situation. It also functions like a continuous passive movement machine and is very useful in restoring the range of movement of a joint.

Additionally, there is a Foot and Ankle division that focuses on conditions like heel pain, knee pain and lower back pain caused by poor foot biomechanics. The SBJH physiotherapy department houses a Barefoot Training Specialist who uses evidence-based barefoot training to restore function, build strength and improve overall movement and alignment in people. Customised insoles are provided, following a computerised foot scan that realign the feet & ankles, and enable a more even weight distribution, taking pressure off sore spots and also provide shock absorption.

Insoles are devices placed inside the shoes/footwear with the purpose of restoring our natural foot function.Insoles correct over-pronation and realign the foot and ankle bones to their neutral position, restoring natural foot function. This gives relief from many common complaints such as heel pain, knee pain and lower back pain that are caused by poor foot biomechanics.Buying a pair of Insoles can be a worthwhile investment for your health, since they can prevent many serious lower body problems.

Regular insoles are purely designed to provide a cushioning effect and shock absorption.WhereasSBJH Insoles realign the feet and ankles, and restore deficient foot function. They enable a more even weight distribution, taking pressure off sore spots (e.g. the heels, the ball of the foot, corns in between toes, and bunions) and also provide shock absorption.

At SBJH, machines imported from France are used for diagnosis and testing, and customised insoles are created for a patient using the 'Proform Module'. These insoles are tailored to suit the needs of different patients. Fragile feet insoles for diabetic patients have a softer top layer, sensitive feet insole for patients suffering from neuropathy, etc.

Theisokinetic machine measures, evaluates and increases the strength of muscles and ranges of motions of major joints. It aims to restore optimal function after injury or surgery. SBJH introduced this machine to Tamil Nadu.

At SBJH, the final stage of rehabilitation aims to return an individual to normal/sports activities via resistance exercises that are usually focused at regaining muscle strength.
